Every Rug Type, Treated Right

Different fibers and constructions require different approaches. We identify your rug's material before selecting a method — never a one-size-fits-all treatment.

Natural Fiber

Wool Rugs

Wool is durable but sensitive to harsh alkaline cleaners and heat. We use pH-balanced solutions and controlled extraction to clean deeply without felting or shrinkage.

Delicate

Silk & Delicate Rugs

Silk requires the lowest-moisture approach available. We use minimal-wet methods and gentle, silk-safe solutions to preserve sheen and prevent color bleed or fiber damage.

Heirloom

Oriental & Persian Rugs

Hand-knotted rugs with natural dyes need careful pre-testing for colorfastness. We inspect the pile direction, fringe, and backing before any solution is applied.

Synthetic

Synthetic Rugs

Nylon, polyester, and olefin rugs are more tolerant of standard hot water extraction. We still pre-treat high-traffic lanes and stains with targeted spotters before rinsing clean.

High-Pile

Shag & High-Pile Rugs

Long fibers trap soil, pet hair, and dander deep in the pile. We use a slower, lower-pressure extraction pass to lift debris without matting or distorting the pile.

Flat-Weave

Flat-Weave & Kilim Rugs

Thin construction means moisture must be carefully managed to prevent backing damage and warping. We use controlled extraction with rapid drying to protect the structure.

Our Area Rug Cleaning Process

Every job starts with an inspection — not a cleaning. We identify the fiber, test for colorfastness, and map any problem areas before a drop of solution touches your rug.

1
Pre-Inspection & Fiber ID We identify fiber type, construction, and dye stability. We flag any pre-existing damage, weak areas, or stains that need targeted pre-treatment.
2
Pre-Treatment of Stains & Traffic Areas High-traffic lanes, visible stains, and pet spots get a targeted pre-conditioner or enzyme treatment before the main cleaning pass.
3
Deep Extraction Cleaning Truck-mounted hot water extraction flushes soil, allergens, and cleaning agents from the rug pile. Technique and temperature are adjusted for fiber type.
4
Drying & Final Inspection High-powered extraction leaves rugs only slightly damp — most dry in 4–8 hours. We do a final walkthrough to confirm results before we leave.

Why Fiber ID Matters Before Cleaning

Wool shrinks with too much heat Hot water extraction at carpet temperatures can felt wool fibers. We adjust heat and dwell time accordingly.
Natural dyes can bleed Hand-dyed oriental rugs are pre-tested for colorfastness before cleaning to prevent dye migration.
Silk weakens when wet Over-saturation damages silk fibers permanently. Low-moisture methods preserve sheen and structural integrity.
Jute & cotton back rugs can warp Natural fiber backings are sensitive to over-wetting. Controlled extraction and rapid drying prevents backing damage.
Wrong pH damages fibers Alkaline cleaners can strip wool and silk proteins. We use pH-matched solutions for each fiber type.

Area Rug Cleaning FAQ

Yes. Wool and oriental rugs require gentler methods than synthetic carpets. We inspect fiber type and construction before choosing the appropriate cleaning method — including lower-moisture techniques for delicate or hand-knotted rugs. We never use harsh chemicals that can strip natural fibers or bleed dyes.
Most area rug cleaning is done on-site at your home. We bring our truck-mounted equipment directly to you, which avoids the handling risks of transport and lets us inspect the rug in its environment. For heavily soiled or extremely delicate pieces, we may recommend a different approach and will discuss that with you upfront.
With our truck-mounted hot water extraction, most area rugs are dry within 4–8 hours. Our high-powered vacuum extracts the majority of moisture during cleaning. We recommend placing the rug on a clean, dry surface or hanging it until fully dry before returning it to normal use.
Yes. We treat pet-affected rugs with the same professional-grade enzyme treatments used for carpet — breaking down uric acid crystals to permanently eliminate odor rather than masking it. We inspect the rug backing as well, since urine often penetrates to the underside. Severely contaminated rugs may require multiple treatments.
We clean wool, silk, cotton, jute, synthetic (nylon, polyester, olefin), hand-knotted, machine-made, oriental, Persian, shag, and flat-weave rugs. Each fiber type gets an appropriate method and solution — we never apply a one-size-fits-all treatment.
